Vaa-vaa-vaa-voom!
The Malabrigo “Vaa” hat, knit using the free Ribbed Beanie pattern from Woolly Wormhead, is suitable for wear outdoors on a chilly day, or indoors on practically any day here in New England where we believe in building character, one frigid room at a time!:
Alex makes a fine model…for his own hat. Note how this style covers his ears, a crucial feature in harsh winter weather.
Rated a full five stars out of five by the American Male System of Manly Color Recognition (AMSMCR), the “Vaa” colorway has been deemed acceptable for wear by even the most virile and pugilistic of American males.
It does have kind of a star on top, though… Hey! Hey you! Are you suggesting that a star ain’t manly? Huh? Huh? You wanna step outside? Yeah? Yeah? Well, I don’t hit no man first…
Remarkably, the same hat has won the seal of approval from the Canis Familiaris Board of Sartorial Excellence:
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, “Dear God, why? Why?”
And yet a favorable rating from the Feline Unincorporated Coalition of Fellows (or, as they prefer to be known, FUCOFF) remains elusive:
I hate you guys. I really, really hate you guys.

I like that hat. But Rob, when I asked him if he would wear a hat like that, said, “No,” immediately. Go figure.
That’s another thing about AMSMCR: every male is a little bit different.

Oooooh, pretty! The hat. I mean the *hat*. Alex is in no way pretty. He is *handsome*, in a manly way, the veriest of manly men, exuding testosterone while wearing a rugged, in-no-way-girly-pretty-type hat. Nay, ’tis verily a man’s hat; a hat that would fit scenarios such as protecting one’s mate from polar bear attacks with bare hands, or tracking the wild musk ox over the barren tundra with nothing but a spear, ok? It’s survival gear! Right! (Whew…that was close… Although y’know, it does show off his bone structure nicely – forget that! I didn’t type it! Manly!) And the Malabrigo even *looks* soft; very nice! (Uh, hey, Alex… I’ll bet aside from the hat, you could also get after-gym massages by insinuating that you deserve a reward for modeling a hat, even one in appproved colors, *and* letting resultant pix be put up on a blog. Just sayin’.)
Shelley and CFBSE approval – Um, I really really hate to bring this up, but…how shall I put this…in supporting the judgment by the AMSMCR on the fitness of said item being worn by males of whatever species, isn’t Shelley a tad out of the arena in question by virtue of being– Mm. How to phrase this delicately. Er – female? I just point this out in a spirit of full and proper disclosure, you understand.
As to Zeno… First, FUCOFF. ROFLMAOWTIME! Oh lordy, Ellen, you have *got* to let us spread this around the net! Cat people *need* this acronym. ::pause for hysterics::
Ahem. More seriously… Could a cat *get* their tail more puffed up?! [g] I hate to tell you this, but while he may not have expressed an opinion in plain Human, I believe he is in no way being elusive in Feline. In fact, I think his comments on the fitness of said colorway *and* hat are not only definitively negative, but obscene in the extreme. Although I’m not totally sure if it’s his opinion on the hat, or the mere wearing of it. A clue may be had by his behavior subsequent to clawing said hat off his head. Did he shred his surroundings, or go hide and sulk? If the former, he does not consider the hat to be manly, and he really, really hates you guys. The latter – he couldn’t care less about the hat. Nor the opinions of silly humans about accessories necessary to assist them in staying warm when they’re too stupid to grow their own fur coats. You got it right; he simply really, really hates you guys. It’s all in the finer points of translation, y’see.

Hee hee, FUCOFF. Can’t put it any better than Monica did.

I have a couple of FUCOFFs at my house, and they just wanted to say they are down with their American bruthas.
